SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA - Founded in November, 1776, Mission San Juan Capistrano remains famous for the swallows that build mud nests in the ruins of the old church. The birds return annually in March on or about St. Joseph's Day. Considered the "Jewel of the Missions", San Juan Capistrano now welcomes over a half million visitors each year.
