FRESNO, CA - John Walters, Director of President Bush's Office of National Drug Control Policy, toured a marijuana growing operation in California. Predominantly run by violent Mexican drug cartels, almost 80% of the illegal gardens are planted on state or federal public land. Director Walters announced almost $1 million in additional funding for California's Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (CAMP). Within the last year, the multi-agency CAMP program has seized over 1 million plants worth an estimated $4.5 billion.
