Washington, D.C. Police Chief, Cathy Lanier, has informed the Levy family of an imminent arrest in the 8 year-old murder of their daughter, Chandra Levy. The 24-year-old political intern's death gained national headlines in 2001 when then-Congressman Gary Condit admitted to having an affair with the young woman. Although never listed as a suspect in the case, Condit's career was subsequently derailed when details of the affair came to public attention.

While the investigators have not named their suspect, many believe the warrant will be issued for Ingmar A. Guandique, an immigrant from El Salvador, now serving a 10-year sentence for attacks on two women in Washington's Rock Creek Park - the same park where Levy's remains were found in 2002.

Chandra Levy was laid to rest in May, 2003 at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery near Modesto, California. The gravesite remains unmarked.
